CNTop Finds

Independent, and not speaking for any agent

This site is written by one named person, it is not owned by or speaking for any of the companies it quotes, and it earns from one kind of link and not the other.

Who writes this

Ray Tan edits CNTop Finds and is responsible for everything on it, including the mistakes. Corrections and complaints go to [email protected] and reach a person rather than a form.

That paragraph exists because most sites in this corner of the web do not have one. A site that quotes other companies, tells you what to check and puts dates on its claims is asking you to extend it some credit, and the minimum price of asking is a name and a working way to argue back.

The work behind this site is unglamorous and worth describing plainly. Twelve company homepages were opened on a single day and screenshotted. Their text was scanned against itself to find wording that repeats. Every link was requested before it was written into a page. The catalogue destinations were tested separately. The log records each of those days.

What independent means here, precisely

Independent is a word that gets used loosely, so here is the specific version. This site is not owned by, operated by, or acting for any of the companies it quotes. None of them commissioned, reviewed or approved a word of it. None of them was contacted before publication, which is why every quotation is taken from a public page rather than from a conversation.

It also means this site does not rank them. There is no best, no top three, no scoring. That is not diplomacy. Ranking these services honestly would require order-level outcomes across all of them over time, at a volume no independent site has, and a ranking published without that is a guess wearing a table. What can honestly be published is what each company printed, the day it was read, and a method for checking it, so that is the whole of what is here.

Where wording turns out to be shared between companies, this site records that the strings match and stops there. It does not allege copying, common ownership, or anything about the quality of any service, because it has no evidence for any of those and did not go looking.

How this is paid for, and which links are commercial

There are two kinds of outbound link on this site and they are treated differently on purpose. You can verify all of this by viewing the source of any page.

  • Category and product links are commercial. They carry a tag identifying this site as the source, and they are marked as sponsored in the page source. If you buy something after following one, this site may be paid. That is what funds the work.
  • Links to the agents themselves are not. Every citation on the claims page is marked nofollow and carries no tracking parameters of any kind. They exist so you can read the page a quotation came from and decide whether it was quoted fairly. Attaching a commercial tag to a link whose purpose is letting you audit us would defeat the point of it.

The obvious risk of the first kind is that money bends the writing. The structural answer is that this site earns the same whichever company you end up using, because the commercial links point at a catalogue rather than at any one service. There is no version of this page that profits from steering you toward a particular agent, which is a large part of why no page here does.

You should not simply believe that. The four-step method works on this site as readily as on any company it quotes.

Things this site will not do

Stated as commitments, so you can hold them against us:

  • No invented numbers. No prices, fees, exchange rates, delivery times, storage periods, discounts or review scores are published here unless they are quoted from a named source with the date they were read. Where a number would go stale, this site describes the mechanism instead.
  • No rankings and no recommendations. See above.
  • No selling. There is no cart here, no checkout, no stock and no payment of any kind. Every purchase happens somewhere else.
  • No undated quotations. A claim without a reading date implies a permanence nobody promised.
  • No silent edits to a quotation. If something quoted here changes on the company page, the correction goes in the log with its own date and says what the old wording was.
  • No republishing other people private details. Screenshots are cropped, and in several cases deliberately cut short, to keep names, addresses, contact details and individual reviewers out of the pictures. That is why some crops on this site stop where they do.

If something here is wrong

Tell us. A quotation that no longer matches its page, a link that has stopped working, a category leading somewhere wrong, or a sentence you think is misleading: [email protected]. Corrections are published with a date rather than quietly applied, which is the only version of a correction a reader can check.
